Track Days
For years I couldn't see the attraction of trackdays, I thought that a good blat through
the lanes was all I needed for a .
But after participating in the Owners' Parade Lap at the L7C
International 2000 at Brands Hatch, something 'clicked' inside and I realised just what I could be missing.
However, partly through fear of the unknown and partly through not wanting to make a fool of myself, I didn't
venture onto the track until July 2001 when I took part in the Novices' Day arranged by Cadence Driver Development
at Bedford Autodrome. This event was to be my first real insight into trackdays and subsequently in May 2002 I booked myself a place on the L7C
trackday at Cadwell Park. I arrived with more than a little apprehension, had a truly amazing day, caught the bug and, as they say, the rest is history.
To this day, Cadwell Park remains my favourite UK circuit.
In 2009 I ventured into competitive motorsport and I started sprinting and hill-climbing in the Lotus 7
Club Speed Championship. As a result of this track days have ceased, although I still look forward to driving circuits such as Oulton Park and Spa-Francorchamps.
See below for circuit maps and photos of tracks I have driven.
