Santa Pod Raceway is Europe's first permanent drag racing venue for quarter mile and eighth mile racing. It is
located in Podington, on the border of Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire and the drag strip was built on a disused Second World War Royal Air
Force base known as RAF Podington which was once used by the USAAF's 92nd Bomb Group. The Raceway hosts
70 events annually, including Drag Racing, Run What Ya Brung, Drift What Ya Brung, Jet Cars, Rocket Bikes,
Monster Trucks, Stunt Displays and public track days.
Members of our Sussex Drives group went on the penultimate day of the Euro Finals weekend and saw
dragsters reaching over 300mph.
The fastest time recorded on the day we were
there by a Top Fuel Dragster - 319.08 mph!
