Joue-du-Bois, Normandy, France - April 2024

Our friends Tim & Laura invited us out to France for a week to house and cat-sit for them again whilst they were on holiday. Unfortunately, we both came down with a virus a few weeks before departure, but made the journey hoping we would feel better soon. This was unfortunately not to be the case and we spent the whole week in Tim & Laura's house, literally going out one afternoon to visit a local Chateau, rather than loads of visits to local places of interest that we usually do when we stay at their house.

To make matters worse, the return journey on the Dieppe-Newhaven ferry was the worst we had experienced in 25 years of visiting France. Storm Lillian hit the English Channel and the ferry pitched and rolled for the whole 4 hours. We had to hunker down in our cabin feeling very sick and finally got home at 11.15pm, very pleased to be back on terra firma!

The only photos we took whilst in France were therefore of Tim & Laura's beautiful house and garden and the one trip we made out during the week to Chateau de Carrouges, a beautiful chateau built in the 14th century and extended in the 15th and 16th centuries and now owned by the State.

We booked a cabin as we hadn't been well for weeks and our coughing would have annoyed our fellow passengers!
