Joue-du-Bois, Normandy, France - November 2021

Our friends Tim & Laura invited us out to France to spend a few days with them in their new house in Joue-du-bois, Normandy. It's a beautiful house with a very large garden, including a lake full of carp and a stream running through the bottom of the garden.

Whilst we were staying in France we visited the following places:

The British Normandy Memorial in Ver-sur-Mer commemorating the 22,442 British and other nationalities who died on D-Day and at the Battle of Normandy between 6th-15th June 1944.

The Pegasus Bridge Memorial in Ranville is dedicated to the men of 6th Airborne Division, "the red berets", who comprised parachute and glider-borne troops.

The memorial reads '6.VI.1944 - The banks of the Orne first parts of France are liberated by the Allied Forces'

Six Horsa gliders transported paratroopers in 'Operation Deadstick' the night before D-Day and we saw this one at the D-Day Museum in Carentan.
