August 2024

We decided to go to Airbourne on the Thursday this year as this was the only day that the Red Arrows were performing and it was also their last display in the UK before going to Canada as part of their 60th anniversary celebrations.

As is tradition, we had breakfast at Bistrot Pierre during which time 2 Typhoons gave an impromptu display, a bonus as they weren't scheduled to fly in the afternoon.

Sadly, a few scheduled displays did not take place; the Lancaster could not take off from Coningsby, Lincs. as it was too windy, the Wingwalkers could not fly as it was too windy in Eastbourne, the Mustang had to return to Biggin Hill after going 'tech' on its way, the Jet Provost was held up for too long waiting for clearance to the flight zone and thus only had enough fuel for a shortened display and last, but not least, the SAAB Draken couldn't take off from Bournemouth as the weather had closed in there.

Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed the Red Arrows, Jet Provost, Jet Pitts and Bronco.
